Camp Oakes - 2010 Dates TBA

About six miles from Big Bear Lake, surrounded by 220 acres of rugged pines and sitting high at 7,300 ft, Camp Oakes is where the water meets the sky. Encircled by idyllic vistas and abound with activities, Camp Oakes is the ultimate summer camp experience

Inspired by the elevation, your child might tackle the high ropes adventure course. The ropes course is designed to develop teamwork skills, build self-confidence and enhance self-esteem. Camp Oakes resurrects the adventurer in every child: come explore the trails on a mountain bike, stargaze at the observatory or cast your line in Camp Oakes Lake. Whether your child heeds the water’s call to kayak or simply wants to splash around in the pool, Camp Oakes offers something for everyone.

Though Camp Oakes provides a dizzying array of activities from horseback riding to canoeing, our attentive and supportive Orange Y camping staff is truly the heart of each camper’s experience. Hear the wind rush in the trees, watch your paddle cut through a still lake, smell the juniper pines and be stirred by the spirit of adventure and the promise of fun and friendship. For over 50 years, Camp Oakes has taken generations of children to new heights with new friends at their sides. Nature is beckoning; what are you waiting for?

Our 2010 dates should be announced soon.  If you would like to know more information on how you can sign up your child next year for 2010, please email Liz Martinez.

Our resident camp program is accredited by the American Camp Association which means we are evaluated and comply with over 300 industry established health and safety standards compiled by experts from many fields such as: risk management, child development, aquatics, and health care.  We are committed to the children we serve which is why we go through great lengths to maintain our accreditation status and continue to pass the test.
