BMX Racing
The YMCA is proud to be home to an American Bicycle Association-sanctioned 1,200 foot "double U" racing track designed especially for BMX racers. Between 100 and 125 racers take part in this year-round programs.
BMX racing is fun for all ages. Racers are grouped by age and riding experience. Racers range from under five to over 40. Within each age group is novice, intermediate and expert categories. As racers successfully compete, they earn points and move up in experience levels. Top racers in each category receive trophies.
To participate, racers must purchase a $45 annual membership from the ABA (available any race day). Racers must wear long sleeved shirts and long pants. Elbow pads and kneepads are recommended. A helmet is also required (helmets can be rented at the track).
Race days are Wednesdays (6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. sign ups, 7:15 p.m. race time), Fridays (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. sign ups, 7:30 p.m. race time) and Sundays (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. sign ups, 5:15 p.m. race time).
You can host your child' birthday celebration at the track. To book the event, please contact Reuben Sanchez for availability at Bike Alley, in Orange at 714-997-3980. Because of the busy BMX schedule, parties are only booked on Saturdays at least 2-3 months in advance.
