YMCA Youth Flag Football Training Camp
We are excited to introduce a revamped format to our flag football program. The YMCA Youth Flag Football Training Camp is an eight (8) week program aimed at covering the fundamentals of football: running, catching, throwing, blocking and tackling (pulling flags). This will be an action packed eight (8) weeks that will include two (2) scheduled games so the kids can display their new skills. The YMCA of Orange thanks Coach KG, Keven Griffin for his enthusiasm and dedication towards developing and initiating this exciting new program!
Program Objective:
The primary objective is to offer a camp that offers enjoyment through core skill development. The focus will be to teach the kids to compete while having fun.
Program Deliverables:
At the end of the eight (8) weeks kids will have learned the following: basic terminology, basic rules of the game, offensive skills, defensive skills, offensive/defensive plays, and sportsmanship. At the end of each four (4) week period the kids will play an inter-squad game to feature their skills. This format will provide an opportunity for parents to see the progress of their kids.
YMCA youth sports focus on effort and participation rather than pushing to win at any cost, the focus is on the performance, not just the end result. The program emphasizes learning, cooperation and fun - while offering the opportunity to develop basic physical skills. The YMCA hopes to encourage children of all ability and age levels to participate in youth sports. The YMCA attempts to develop the whole child (spirit, mind and body) - not just perfecting the physical skills.
